Today's Card: 2 of Wands

Twos usually refer to balance - the importance or the need to find or maintain it in your life or the situation at hand. The 2 of wands often indicates a partnership with one other person and finding a balance in the professional or personal relationship with that person.

This card reminds us to balance our relationship or partnership - to remember that all such partnerships require an amount of give-and-take to make the most of all aspects of the partnership.

Daily Tarot: 6 of Pentacles

Pentacles (or coins in some decks) usually represent money or the material plain of earth. It's the physical, the "things" in our life.

The 6 of pentacles is often a sign of a turn for the better, especially with money. It's one of the most positive pentacle cards speaking of equality, growth, and fairness.

It often represents generosity - meaning you are either about to be the beneficiary or the giver of generosity. Share what you have as there is always someone who needs it. Be grateful for what you receive and not too proud to accept what is offered when you need it.

A pretty dang good card!

Daily Tarot: 4 of Pentacles

This card in my Egyptian Tarot deck has 2 lotus in full bloom and 2 cobras along with the 4 pentacles.

Pentacles are generally Earth and Prosperity (they are called coins in some decks) and 4 is the number of matter or the material plain. So this to me is a card of financial growth and opportunity manifesting in your life - perhaps the result of plans finally coming to fruition, a project finally being complete, something you've been working for some time for finally happening.

(still having problems trying to get photos to upload from my phone camera to Picasa - hopefully will figure this out soon!)

As I am setting up to sell at a convention tomorrow, this just might be a very good card to have gotten today!

Daily Tarot: The Lovers

Today I drew the Lovers card. While it can represent actual love or a lover entering your life, it can also indicate a choice - following your heart or following your mind.

In the Egyptian Tarot deck I use, a God is shown as the sun aiming his arrow of love on 3 figures - a man and 2 woman. The man is at the apex of the road with a different woman on either side - which way will he go? One of the women is bare breasted, perhaps the "wilder" path of passion or an affair, while the other might represent stability or a wife.

Which way should you turn? Towards passion and perhaps abandoning your planned path, or towards your long-term love (which may be goals or professional passion as well as actual emotional or physical love).

Daily Tarot: 2 of Pentacles

This card has a Baboon (representative of the God Thoth), holding an Eye of Horus sitting on a pentacle with another on his head in a boat headdress.

By the book, it means happiness and play. To me, it reminds me to keep a watchful, protective eye on our finances - playing with some while hiding others. A reminder to save and plan ahead.

Interesting that I drew this one on my birthday. Thoth is one of my favorite Egyptian Gods and I often look to him for guidance.

Daily Tarot: Knave of Pentacles

Knaves, or Pages as they are called in many tarot decks, usually represent youth, and to me, represent record keeping or messages. The Knave of Pentacles specifically talks about financial records - keeping your accounts in order, taking care of bills or other things you need to take care of, especially of a written nature.

I'm having problems getting photos to upload today so will add pictures when it lets me :(

Daily Tarot: Death

The Death card scares a lot of people as they think it means physical death. This is rarely the case.

One of the Major Arcana cards, it indicates Divine influence (in this case, Anubis) in affecting change. The death it usually refers to is death of a belief, idea, or problem. Something that has to change for the better - or "die" - so something else can be reborn.

This card reminds us to be flexible and the scales remind me of balance - of perhaps letting some things go (die) so you can get back to balance and your strength.

Daily Tarot: 9 of Pentacles

Pentacles as a general rule speak of prosperity and finances. Nines generally are about repetition and getting back to basics or the source of an issue.

The nine of pentacles in my deck (photo coming later since I forgot to put my phone on the charger last night :( ) includes the Eye of Horus, a very protective symbol, and a cobra that is also protective but can also be deadly. It reminds us to be watchful of finances or that others are watching out for us. Pentacles can be prosperity of all kinds - not just monetary - and in a reading can indicate abundance in all it's forms: money, relationships, etc.  Drawn alone, it usually indicates money rather than other forms though.

Daily Card: 2 of Chalices

Two is all about duality - the good and the bad, the dark and the light. Chalices deal with emotions and the element of air.

So the 2 of Chalices speaks to me about both sides of an issue, or it this case since this is my daily "what should I focus on today" card, that it's going to be a day of both good and bad. A reminder that you cannot have one without the other and to find value in both.

In this particular Egyptian Tarot deck (I use the mini deck for daily readings), the 2 chalices are backed by the headdress of Ra showing that there is power and the Divine always working behind the scenes. The dual snakes and the symbols of life (the Ankh) and Death (the Feather) both speak to the duality of the number two and a reminder for balance. The fact that the one chalice is below Ra (or God) makes it the dark for me and the chalice in front of the headdress speaks to the power of Ra elevating you to the light.
