10 of Pentacles - Today's Tarot Card

The 10 of Pentacles here is shown with the Crook and Flail crossed in the background - the symbol of Royalty in Ancient Egypt. The Scarab in the middle is the symbol of resurrection and rebirth or natural cycles.

Of course the suit of pentacles or coins is associated with money and prosperity so this card to me represents fortunes that are lost and regained over and over. It can indicate gambling or a cycle of loss and growth repeating itself again.

The Crook and Flail ads the element of power and legacy to this card which can mean fortunes gained from an inheritance - gaining from a source that is not your own which again could be thru gambling or a game of chance such as a lottery.

Like many tarot cards, the meaning of becomes clearer in a multi-card reading than alone, but as a single card, it generally indicates a financial gain of some kind.

Death - Today's Tarot Card

Death is probably the tarot card that scares people the most. But death is rarely a physical death. It usually indicates the death of something that needs to die - a false idea, a bad relationship, something along those lines.

In my Egyptian Tarot deck, the Death card depicts Anubis during the Weighing of the Heart ceremony. The heart of the deceased would be weighed against the Feather of Truth or Ma'at to see if they were eligible to pass into the Duat, or Egyptian afterlife. Anubis would lead the deceased's Ka or Soul into the ceremony which was presided over by Osiris.

This card is a reminder to examine your life or current situation to see if you are perhaps holding on to something that you shouldn't be. Often it is better to let things or people go from your life instead of hanging onto what no longer serves you.

Two of Swords Reversed - Today's Tarot Card

Today's card is the Two of Swords Reversed.

The 2 of Swords is the Crown of Ptah and represents two people that think and act as one - a strong bond of friendship and fellowship. It may indicate your significant other or just a very good friend, business partner, or confident. It can also indicate a sibling, especially a twin. Duality. Opposites that unite to form something important.

Reversed indicates possible problems and conflicts with that close friend. Where you normally think and act as one, today you are at odds - two sides of the coin or the issue before you. It can also indicate a battle within your own heart or mind with 2 options you are considering tearing you in different directions.

Judgement - The Tarot Card of the Day

Judgement - The 20th Card of the Major Arcana

In my deck, Anubis, the guide of the dead, is leading the soul to the Duat, the Egyptian afterlife.

The card Judgement reminds me to take a step back and see if the situation you are in (or considering) serves you or not. It came up a lot for me during the end of my relationship with my fiance and I didn't understand why at the time. In hindsight, I realize it was trying to get me to see if the relationship was what I really wanted - which it was not though I was unwilling at the time to let it go. It was comfortable and staying in comfort is always easier than facing the unknown.

Judging your current situation can be difficult - it is easy to see things in hindsight as in the relationship with my fiance, but when you are in the middle of it is another story. Anubis here  reminds me that there is a guide for whatever choice I make. Someone that will stand beside me even in the darkest times (death) to show me the way.

7 of Chalices - Today's Tarot Card

The 7 of Cups is today's tarot card.

Cups is the suit of water and the emotions.

This card has 7 chalices in front of a house. One of the cups rests on the ground with 2 below reminding me of emotions that might be buried rising up to the surface - the idea of getting your house in order.

Other cups float above the house speaking of "As Above" the other half of the maxim "As Above, So Below" and the imagination. Thoughts may be seen as flighty or fantasy rather than grounded in reality.

The 7 cups indicate choices that can be made which can be too many choices and can indicate temptation (especially when reversed).

Not certain how this might relate to my day today though.

Temperance is Today's Tarot Card

Today's card is Temperance - the 14th card of the Major Arcana

This is one of the cards I have a hard time understanding - not sure why, so I pulled some information below from the book meaning which I usually don't do.

A person with wings stands upon the world wearing wings on their feet as well. He holds 2 vessels, one that appears empty and a radiant sun is behind him. The figure is neither obviously male or female - a hermaphrodite indicating a balance between the genders.

The wings make the figure a creature of air, though he stands upon solid land which speaks to me of "as above, so below" and is more mindful of their path than the Fool is. The 2 cups are said to represent the sub and super-conscious minds perhaps advising us to stay grounded in our path, yet focused on our goals and dreams in order to achieve the promise of the Sun which to me always speaks of joy and ultimate happiness/success.

I can see the things the book talks about in the symbolism of this card. I see it now as a reminder to temper my day with all the tasks I want to do, as well as the fun I want to have. To stay grounded as I move thru the day.

Strength is Today's Tarot Card

Todays tarot card is Strength, the 11th card in the major arcana.

While it can mean physical strength, this card to me has always meant courage and spiritual strength. Putting your hand in the lion's mouth is a matter of trust, courage and strength of will - having the strength to do things that must be done and the trust that the universe will support and aid you.

It also indicates a need to stand strong in the face of danger - feeling the solid ground under you and the Gods above you supporting whatever it is you need to do.

Not sure what strength it is telling me I need today - my plans only involve renewing my driver's license. While I am expecting a lot of sitting around and waiting at the DMV, we'll have to see what else today might hold.
